I get asked often, so here's an example.
Photoshop CS3
1) make rough sketch
2) draw clean lines (erased Dante's hair when I colored it)
3) color (I do them mostly with vector shapes)
4) shadow
5) add extra layer for overall color adjustment (for this one, only the bottom area)

just two questions! do you do your lineart with the pen tool? or just draw them? and second when you say you color in vector shapes, what does that mean exactly?
